In a significant development for the global defence-aviation sector, Brazil’s Embraer has signed a series of cooperation agreements with five subsidiaries of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ). The agreements mark a strategic effort to deepen industrial collaboration between the two countries across aviation, defence manufacturing, and advanced aerospace capabilities.

Poland has been rapidly expanding its defence spending in response to what it identifies as growing security threats from Russia. The country plans to allocate 4.8% of its GDP to defence in 2026 — one of the highest ratios among NATO members. Strengthening partnerships with major aerospace manufacturers is a key part of this strategy.

According to PGZ, the newly signed agreements will enable both organisations to assess and pursue industrial cooperation opportunities within the aerospace sector. While financial details have not been publicly disclosed, the scope of cooperation is extensive.

Key Areas of Collaboration

The partnership will include initiatives across:

  • Operational support and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul)

  • Aerospace components manufacturing

  • Supply-chain optimisation and logistics solutions

  • Design, development, prototyping, and industrialization of aerospace products

  • Engineering support and testing processes

In addition, the agreements outline cooperation in:

  • Technology transfer

  • Certification and quality assurance

  • Emerging aerospace technologies

  • Potential joint production of aircraft components and aviation services

PGZ stated that the collaboration will help strengthen Poland’s domestic aerospace capabilities, while Embraer gains deeper industrial partnerships within the European defence market.

A Strategic Step in Defence–Aviation Industrial Partnerships

The Embraer–PGZ deal highlights a broader global trend: defence procurement is increasingly shifting toward co-production, technology sharing, and industrial partnerships rather than traditional equipment buying.

For Poland, this collaboration supports its long-term goal of becoming a major European hub for defence manufacturing and aviation engineering. For Embraer, it provides stronger access to European supply chains and defence modernization programs.
