South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace has secured a follow-on defence agreement to supply three additional K239 Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher systems to Estonia. The new government-to-government deal strengthens Estonia’s long-range strike capabilities and builds on an earlier order for six Chunmoo systems signed in December 2025.

The agreement was signed between the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency and the Estonian Centre for Defence Investments. The original €290 million contract included launchers, guided rockets, tactical ballistic missiles, and operational support packages aimed at enhancing Estonia’s defence readiness and artillery capabilities.

Growing Baltic Defence Procurement Activity

The K239 Chunmoo is a highly mobile rocket launcher system mounted on an 8×8 truck platform, capable of firing precision-guided rockets and tactical missiles with ranges extending up to 290 kilometres. The continued procurement reflects Estonia’s ongoing investment in modern defence systems amid rising regional security concerns.

The latest agreement also highlights the growing defence-industrial partnership between Estonia and Hanwha Aerospace, which already includes K9 Thunder howitzer programmes. The expansion signals continued procurement opportunities across missile systems, defence technologies, military vehicles, and support infrastructure in the Baltic and Nordic regions.
